Abstract

Elections are a means of implementing the sovereignty of the people to determine the representation in running government. Every citizen has equal rights in politics, especially the right to vote in elections. The right to vote in elections is universal and irreducible. Nevertheless, the achievement of electoral rights for regional students in Yogyakarta Special District in the 2019 elections still faces some obstacles. So, it will take the efforts of the KPU to provide certainty over the votes of the regional students in the 2024 elections. This thesis aims to find out how the Sleman district KPU efforts in the fulfilment of electoral rights for regional students in the 2024 elections. The methods used in research are qualitative methods with interviews as data collection techniques. The research was conducted at the Sleman district KPU and in the UIN Sunan Kalijaga campus. Interviews were conducted with some of the regional students at Sunan kalijaga UIN and with the KPU as an institution responsible for fulfilling the right of choice. In addition, there is also an analysis of the problems that are being investigated. The results of this research show that the Sleman district KPU has undertaken various roles and efforts in this respect in accordance with the legislative regulations in order to fulfil the electoral rights of regional students in the forthcoming 2024 elections, such as socialization and the establishment of special location TPS in the campuses. Despite some efforts, there are still students who lack information about the elections. This signals the need to enhance and further extend socialization to the region's students.
