Abstract

In the modern era, with the endless development of technology, online games have become a topic of discussion that is quite widely discussed. The main factor of popular online games is that they can be downloaded by anyone without any standard rules governing the age limit for downloading online games. With the popularity of online games among teenagers, there are pros and cons, one of which is the negative impact of such behaviour, often saying harsh words, and staying away from real life. The purpose of this research is to determine whether or not there is an effect of the intensity of playing online games on the dynamic style of communication in MAN 1 Yogyakarta students. This research uses quantitative research methods using simple linear regression analysis. The result is obtained a significance value of 0,057 < 0,05 which means that there is an influence of the intensity of playing online games (X) on the dynamic style of communication (Y) in MAN 1 Yogyakarta students. Based on the coefficient of determination, the resulting effect is 7,3% which is considered weak and it can be said that there is a slight positive relationship between variable X and variable Y, but the relationship is not too strong an effect.
