Abstract

Self-adjustment is an individual's behavior to overcome unpleasant circumstances against him so that the individual can show a pleasant attitude and behavior and can be accepted by the group and the environment. This study was motivated by the discovery of problems related to the lack of self-adjustment in class VII students of MTs Negeri 5 Klaten related to a sense of enthusiasm when at school and feeling uncomfortable with their new school environment. The discovery of these problems raises questions related to how high the role of the father they have, so the purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the role of the father and self-adjustment in class VII students of MTs Negeri 5 Klaten. This study uses a quantitative approach that is correlational in nature. The population in this study were all seventh grade students of MTs Negeri 5 Klaten, totaling 195 students. The sampling technique used saturated sampling technique. The data collection method in this study used a father's role scale and a self-adjustment scale. The data analysis technique used Pearson product moment correlation with the help of SPSS 23.0 for windows. The results of the analysis show that there is a relationship between father's role and self-adjustment can be accepted, meaning that there is a significant positive relationship between father's role and self-adjustment in seventh grade students of MTs Negeri 5 Klaten with a correlation coefficient of 0.499, and shows a correlation value large enough or strong enough with a p value = 0.000 <0.05 which means that the higher the father's role score will be followed by a high self-adjustment score, and vice versa low father's role score will be followed by a low self-adjustment score. In addition to father's role, self-adjustment is also influenced by social support, self-efficacy and self-confidence.
