Abstract

The teacher's method of communicating with his students greatly influences the teaching and learning process. One method commonly used in Indonesia is the lecture method. This method is not a bad method if it is supported by adequate facilities and infrastructure and pays attention to the limitations of the method. According to pre-research data, it shows that most students quickly get bored with the lecture method used by teachers during the teaching and learning process. Because communication only occurs in one direction. As a result, students often make noise in class during lessons, which makes learning less conducive and makes students less interested in learning. One of the methods tried by teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Dukun Kab. Magelang is to communicate persuasively with its students to help increase students' interest in learning at the school. This research aims to find out how much influence teachers' persuasive communication has on students' interest in learning. This research is quantitative with a field survey method. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires, observation and documentation. The objects of this research were students of SMA Negeri 1 Dukun Kab. Magelang. The sample was determined using a proportionate stratified sampling technique, with a total of 89 respondents. Data was collected using a Likert scale questionnaire. The data analysis technique uses simple regression analysis. The results of this research are that there is a magnitude of influence of teacher persuasive communication on students' interest in learning, namely 41.8%. Therefore, efforts are needed from teachers and students to maintain and grow students' interest in learning so that the learning process becomes more lively.
