Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the strategy digitization of arboretum and realia collections based on visual content as an effort to increase information accessibility in the INSTIPER Library, to determine the impact of digitizing arboretum and realia collections on information accessibility and to find out the challenges faced in the digitization process in increasing information accessibility. The method used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. Data validity tests in this research are divided into four, namely, credibility, transferability, dependability and confirmability tests. Then the data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The result of this research is a procedure for digitizing the arboretum and realia collections based on visual content in the INSTIPER Library through 5 stages, namely, identification, content research and rubrication, graphic design, display and cataloging. The strategy carried out as an effort to increase information accessibility is the approach to implementing digital library technology, the approach to information access and legality policies through open access policies and the inclusion of credible information in visual content, as well as a collaborative approach with INSTIPER internal and external parties. This digitalization has an influence on the development of information accessibility in the INSTIPER environment, the positive impact felt by users, namely, availability of information, comfort, ease of access, modern equipment, confidence/trust in information, ease of use of the system, relevance, collection locatability, up to date, and reliability of the visual content provided. The challenges faced in digitizing arboretums and realia are the readiness of human resources as well as policies or SOPs for developing digital arboretum and realia collections that have not yet been created.
