Abstract

Stunting is a condition of chronic malnutrition that affects the physical and brain growth of children. The government in this case has a target to reduce the stunting rate to 14% by 2024. Meanwhile, in Magelang district, the prevalence of stunting is still at 28.2% in 2023. So, stunting prevention efforts need to be carried out by all parties, especially health workers. The lowest health workers who are expected to be able to prevent stunting from an early age are posyandu cadres. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with the research subject being posyandu cadres. Gandusari village was chosen as the research site because this village has the lowest stunting rate and is the focus of nutritionsensitive interventions from the Magelang district government. The purpose of this study was to determine the health communication carried out by posyandu cadres in preventing stunting in children. The results of this study indicate that the health communication of posyandu cadres in preventing stunting with communication empathy, control, fostering trust, seeking self-disclosure from posyandu targets, and communication with confirmation. Efforts in prevention include nutrition counseling, mentoring, paying attention to the development of toddlers, and data collection.
