Abstract

There are many plants in the MAN 3 Sleman environment, especially medicinal plants, is a local potential that can be used as a learning resource in the biological learning process. This research aims to find out the inventory of medicinal plants in the MAN 3 Sleman environment, develop a medicinal plant encyclopedia, and know the feasibility of the developed product. This research is included in the Research and Development type of research. This research used an explorative method. Methods of research development with 4-D models are define, design, development, and disseminate. The result of researching was found 43 species of medicinal plants that can be processed simply as medicine. The development media in print is the encyclopedia of medical plants. The product is assessed using an assessment instrument in the form of a checklist sheet. The product was assessed by 1 material expert, 1 media expert, 5 peer reviewers, 1 biology teacher, and 28 students in the X MAN 3 Sleman class. The data obtained are then analyzed in a qualitative and quantitative descriptive manner. The results of research on encyclopedias of medicinal plants by materialists received 88% in the excellent category, 97.6% in the excellent category, 96.125% in the excellent category, 96.25% in biology teacher in the excellent category, and 87.9% in the excellent category. It can thus be concluded that the developed encyclopedia of medicinal plants is suitable for use as a source of SMA/MA biology learning.
