Abstract

The purpose of this study is to understand and see: 1) increasing the use of storytelling methods using finger puppets in the emotional intelligence of children aged 4-5 years at RA Al Hikmah Doroampel Sumbergempol Tulungagung. 2) the effectiveness of the use of storytelling methods using finger puppets in the emotional intelligence of children aged 4-5 years at RA Al Hikmah Doroampel Sumbergempol Tulungagung. This research uses a quantitative approach with the type of quasi-experiment. The research sample amounted to 25 children aged 4-5 years, where the control class amounted to 13 children and the experimental class amounted to 12 children. Data collection was carried out through non-test techniques, observation methods, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis using SPSS and Microsoft Excel. Descriptive statistical analysis techniques and inferential statistics, including normality test, homogeneity test, hypothesis testing using Wilcoxson Test, and N-Gain Score) to determine the improvement and effectiveness of the storytelling method using finger puppets in emotional intelligence. The results showed that the research hypothesis stated that Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected. It is concluded that 1) there is a significant increase from the Wilcoxon test results that the probability value of Asym.sig 2 <0.05 so that there is an average change. 2) the storytelling method using finger puppets shows quite effective results in increasing emotional intelligence, as seen from the results of the N-Gain test, namely the control group as much as 13.55%, this value is included in the ineffective category. While for the experimental group's n-gain score value obtained results as much as 70.52%, the value is included in the moderately effective category.
