Abstract

This research was conducted at PT. Sport Glove Indonesia, a glove manufacturing company located in Krandon, Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region. The main objective of this study is to implement the Lean Manufacturing concept to improve Process Cycle Efficiency (PCE) and reduce waste. The focus of this research is the epic cutter glove style, which is a new style with a significant production percentage in January 2024. The methods used include Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Fishbone Diagram, and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) to identify waste and develop appropriate improvement recommendations to address these waste issues. The VSM analysis results indicate that two areas need improvement: embellishment and final inspection, as well as the sewing department, which has quality issues. Additionally, the most dominant waste identified, with a significant potential to hinder the production process, is defect waste, accounting for 23.13%. The analysis was conducted on the sewing department, which has the highest defect percentage in the company. The FMEA analysis of defect causes revealed that the highest RPN values were due to operators losing focus, frequent machine troubles, and worn-out tools. Improvement recommendations were then developed to reduce and eliminate waste. The actual production lead time to make one glove is 1011,24 seconds, with an actual PCE of 76.84%. If the improvement recommendations are implemented effectively, the Production Lead Time can be reduced to 867,78 seconds, and the PCE value can increase by 11,4% to 88,24%.
