Abstract

This research is motivated by the many new groups or organizations that have emerged in the name of religion, causing the emergence of new ideologies and a growing understanding of radicalism. One of the factors that causes this to occur is due to different perspectives in understanding the meaning of da'wah or understanding religious knowledge. Through educational institutions we can hope to have great hope in preventing the spread of radicalism. This research aims to 1) Find out how Islamic Religious Education learning is implemented at Al-Azhar Islamic Boarding School and SMP Islamic Tanwirul Afkar. 2) Knowing how to prevent radicalism among students through learning Islamic religious education at Al-Azhar Islamic Boarding School and SMP Islamic Tanwirul Afkar. 3) Knowing what strategies are used to prevent radicalism among students at Al-Azhar Islamic Boarding School and SMP Islamic Tanwirul Afkar. This research method uses qualitative (field research), referring to qualitative descriptive approaches and comparative studies. The data sources used in this research are the results of interviews from Al-Azhar Islamic boarding school supervisors, school principals and Islamic religious education teachers at SMP Islamic Tanwirul Afkar. The collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. This research includes observations of phenomena that arise in efforts to prevent radicalism among students through learning Islamic religious education at the Al-Azhar Islamic boarding school and SMP Islamic Tanwirul Afkar. The steps taken in data analysis are data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The results of this research are 1) the implementation of Islamic religious education learning at Al-Azhar Islamic Boarding School and SMP Islamic Tanwirul Afkar is carried out using several methods such as bandongan, sorogan, halaqah, demonstration and recitation. 2) efforts made to prevent radicalism through the diniyah learning curriculum using the Yellow Book, instilling Islamic activities, such as the NU understanding of Aswaja and also extracurricular activities. 3) strategies implemented to prevent radicalism in students by optimizing the functions of Islamic boarding schools, namely religious functions, social functions and educational functions as well as Bahtsul Masail forums, internalization of religious values and socialization of anti-violence.
