Abstract

The marriage practices of several santri married couples in the Langitan Tuban Islamic Boarding School have become a new phenomenon recently. This causes the marriage that is lived is not like in general. Basically, a santri only has an obligation to study. Then what about students who have the status of husband or wife and undergo Long Distance Marriage? Because, after marriage not only the status of santri is carried but also the status of husband or wife. So that it requires the couple to carry two obligations simultaneously, namely household obligations and obligations as santri. This then becomes the background for writing this thesis which departs from the question of how to fulfill the rights and obligations of the married couple. The type of research used in the preparation of this thesis is field research, where the author conducts research directly to the Langitan Tuban Islamic Boarding School. This research is a descriptive-analytic qualitative research. The data collection technique in this research is interviews with married couples of students at Langitan Tuban Islamic Boarding School. The data that has been obtained is then analyzed deductively with the maqāsid ash-shari'ah approach. The source of data in this study is the results of interviews with married couples who undergo Long Distance Marriage while being students. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the factors behind Long Distance Marriage while being a santri are: First; the basis of mutual love and want to immediately legalize the prospective wife. Second; matchmaking from parents. Third; encouragement from the family. Fourth, the desire to help ease the life of his prospective wife and fifth, the desire to bind his prospective wife before the husband migrates to work. Meanwhile, in the fulfillment of the rights and obligations of spouses of Long Distance Marriage students in general have been fulfilled but not maximized.
