Abstract

This research aims to understand violations of expectations in students' nonverbal communication at Sahid Vocational High School, Surakarta. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, namely providing a detailed description of speech, writing or behavior that can be observed by individuals. The data source is teenagers aged 15 to 18 years who are currently dating or have been in a relationship before. Data collection was carried out through interviews, field observations and documentation. The data analysis process includes data reduction, and the researcher concludes with a summary of the interview results, which are then processed and made descriptive. Research reveals that, in romantic relationships, violations of nonverbal communication expectations often occur among students. To minimize these violations, schools need to provide positive activities and support to their students. Additionally, some students tend to make noise to seek attention, thus creating an uncomfortable learning environment. Another factor that contributes to nonverbal violations is non-compliance with social values. To overcome this problem, schools should strive to create a more conducive and peaceful environment to foster comfortable and safe relationships between students.
