Abstract

Some students with deaf disabilities experience obstacles and challenges in the process of their activities at university. The obstacles and challenges that occur sometimes make him feel inferior and less valuable as an individual, which can affect his subjective well-being. Subjective well-being itself is an individual's assessment of their life which consists of happiness, positive emotions, life satisfaction, and a lack of negative feelings and emotions. This research aims to determine the factors that influence the subjective well-being of students with deaf disabilities at one of the inclusive universities in Yogyakarta. The informants in this research were 2 deaf students at an inclusive university who had had negative experiences in the university environment. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a case study approach. The data collection technique in this research used semi-structured interview techniques. The results of this research show that one informant has a fairly good subjective well-being condition, while another informant shows an unstable subjective well-being condition. Among the factors that influence their subjective well-being are positive social relationships, religiosity, family support, ability to face challenging events, independence, agreeableness, income and economic conditions. Thus, this research shows that internal and external factors also influence the subjective well-being conditions of students with deaf disabilities.
