Abstract

This study aims to: 1) To determine the application of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) learning model can increase the activeness of students of class XI MIPA 2 at SMAN 1 Depok Sleman, 2) To determine the application of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) learning model can improve learning outcomes in the knowledge aspect of students in class XI MIPA 2 SMAN 1 Depok Sleman. This research includes Classroom Action Research consisting of three cycles with a research design using the Kemmis and Taggart model. Cycle I used the Discovery Learning model, Cycle II and cycle III used the Numbered Head Together (NHT) learning model. The subjects of this study were XI MIPA 2 class students totaling 35 students with the subject matter of the body's defense system. The data of this study were obtained from observation sheets of student activeness, posttest sheets, photo documentation, and field notes. The data were analyzed qualitatively with descriptive and quantitative using d cohen effect size analysis. The results showed that the Numbered Head Together (NHT) learning model can improve student activeness and biology learning outcomes. The increase in student activeness can be seen from the percentage of observation of activeness in each cycle, namely cycle I of 67.76%, cycle II of 87.25% and cycle III of 87.30%. The increase in student learning outcomes can be seen from the average posttest results in each cycle, namely cycle I of 47.71, cycle II of 66.47 and cycle III of 84.24 so that an effect size of 1.3 (large effect) is obtained between cycle I and cycle II and an effect size of 1.4 (large effect) between cycle II and cycle II. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) learning model can improve the activeness and learning outcomes of biology students in class XI MIPA 2 at SMA Negeri 1 Depok Sleman
