Abstract

The lack of sufficient employment opportunities in Indonesia has caused many people to work outside Indonesia. In the last three years this has increased from the previous year by around 37%. It was found that 11,733 Indonesian migrant workers chose to work in Saudi Arabia, however Saudi Arabia is also the country with the largest number of migrant worker problems reporting to BP2MI around 1,238 problem reports from the last three years. The focus of this research is government policies that protect Indonesian workers in Saudi Arabia. Then the data is analyzed using a siyasah dauliyah perspective. This research is normative juridical research. Using library research data collection techniques, this method looks at problems from the perspective of laws, norms, books, journals and regulations. The research approach that researchers will use is juridical-empirical. The data analysis technique uses qualitative data analysis. The results of this research conclude: firstly, that the protection of Indonesian migrant workers has undergone many changes from before due to the birth of a new law in Indonesia which requires all government agencies from central to regional to participate. Second, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have similarities in matters of protecting workers' rights, starting from wage protection and health insurance. The three concepts of legal protection for PMI are different during the handling process in the field. In order to obtain appropriate legal protection, PMI working in Saudi is still far from perfect.
