Abstract
The complexity of roles and responsibilities of being mothers especially for toddlers parenting has a high potential to cause stress, and reduce the parenting quality. Parenting stress can be influenced by internal factors such as the mother's emotional regulation, also external factors such as the father's involvement. Therefore, this research aims to determine the relationship between emotional regulation and father involvement with parenting stress in mothers that have toddlers. This study uses a quantitative correlational method. The subjects in this study were mothers in Kasihan District, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta, had children aged 0-5 years, had husbands who were still alive and not divorced, and lived at home with their husbands and children with a total of 127 respondents. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling technique. The data collection tools in this research is emotional regulation scale, fathers involvement scale, and parenting stress scale. The data analysis method used in this research is multiple linear regression. The results of the research show that the major hypothesis is accepted, meaning that there is a joint relationship between emotional regulation and father involvement with parenting stress in mothers that have toddlers, p= <0.001 (p <0.05). The independent variable, emotional regulation and father involvement provide an effective contribution to dependent variable parenting stress with 33.2% contribution. All minor hypothesis in this study was accepted. The first minor hypothesis has a value of p = < 0.001 (p < 0.05), meaning that there is a negative relationship between emotional regulation and parenting stress. The second minor hypothesis has a value of p = <0.001 (p <0.05), meaning that there is a negative relationship between father involvement and parenting stress in mothers of toddlers. The implications of the results in this study is able to increase insight for parents, especially mothers, to avoid parenting stress in the process of raising toddlers.
