Abstract
This research aims to design, manufacture, and test the STM32 Nucleo G0B1RE microcontroller-based laser modulation system for photoacoustic imaging. This research was conducted through three stages starting from the design, manufacture, and testing of the modulation system. The modulation system design is done by creating a modulation system circuit scheme using the EasyEDA application. The manufacturing stage is done by making the hardware and software of the modulation system. Hardware manufacturing includes assembling the components used, namely STM32 Nucleo G0B1RE, TTL laser driver and laser diode. The software consists of creating a modulation program on the STM32Cube IDE which is an integrated software belonging to the STM32 Nucleo microcontroller and creating a GUI on LabVIEW. Testing of the modulation system is done by finding the accuracy and precision of frequency repeatability and power density values and duty cycle repeatability precision. The frequency and duty cycle parameters of the PWM signal output on the TTL laser driver were compared with the PWM signal generated by pin PA5 on the STM32 G0B1RE and read using a digital oscilloscope. The laser modulation system has been successfully designed, made and tested with an accuracy value of 99.77% and repeatability precision obtained of 99.99% for each frequency. The power density test results provide linear information between the duty cycle and the power released on the laser diode.The test results show that this modulation system can be considered as a good system in producing accurate and consistent PWM signals, so it can be relied upon to modulate lasers in photoacoustic imaging with ultrasonic frequencies.
