Abstract

This study aims to identify the relationship between sleep quality and academic stres with subjective psychological well-being among final-year students working on their thesis. These students often face intense internal and external pressures, which may negatively impact their subjective psychological well-being, affecting academic performance and overall mental health. This research uses a quantitative survey method involving 174 student respondents in Yogyakarta. The results show that sleep quality and academic stres collectively account for 38% of the variation in subjective psychological well-being (R Square = 0.380). Linear regression analysis produces the regression equation indicating that a one-unit increase in sleep quality reduces subjective psychological well-being by 1.124, while a one-unit increase in academic stres decreases subjective psychological well-being by 0.255. Significance tests show that sleep quality has a significant effect (t = -7.929, p < 0.001), while academic stres does not (t = -1.802, p = 0.073). These findings offer important insights for educational institutions to design effective strategies to support students' psychological well-being amid high academic demands.
