Abstract

Tidying up your home can be a solution to stressors that face you in everyday life such as having piles of laundry, piles of paper, untidy items at the end can trigger stress. Tidying up behavior that is done consistently has an impact on individual well-being. If done repeatedly, it requires strong maintenance to maintain it. This research aims to find how is the process of forming tidying behavior among members of Gemar Rapi community. The method in this research used a qualitative with a case study approach and used semi-structured interviews for data collection. The informants in this research were two alumni of the Gemar Rapi community and two significant others from each pair of informants. The research results show that the process of forming tidying behavior among members of the Gemar Rapi community includes self-awareness, learning from Konmari books, tidying methods, setting goals, feelings after tidying, and sustainable tidying behavior. The factors that influence the process of forming informant tidying behavior include internal and external factors. Internal factors include childhood experiences, simple living concepts, the desire to live neatly, awareness of an environmentally friendly lifestyle. While external factors include the role of the community, home environment, support and positive social interactions.
