Abstract

This research was motivated by the varied input of MAN 1 Yogyakarta students, where not all students came from MTS or Islamic Boarding Schools. However, in reality in the field, at the end of each study the teacher succeeds in completing the students' memorization of the tahfidz Al-Qur'an according to the targets set. This research aims to find out how teachers of Al-Qur'an tahfidz subjects can improve the memorization of MAN 1 Yogyakarta students. This research method is a qualitative research method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. Determining the object of this research subject used a purposive non-probability sampling technique. Purposive sampling technique is a technique for determining sources using 3M criteria, namely knowing, experiencing and understanding the research topic. The subjects of this research include: School principal, Deputy Head of Curriculum, Deputy Head of Student Affairs, Tahfidz Al-Qur'an teacher and students. Data analysis uses transcribing, coding, grouping, comparing and contrasting and interpreting techniques. Next is the source triangulation technique. The results of the research show that learning tahfidz Al-Qur'an at MAN 1 Yogyakarta has been carried out in accordance with the designed implementation. Learning stages include praying before studying, reading verses in front of the teacher, memorizing, depositing, repeating memorization, and consolidation. The use of learning methods and student motivation with a variety of activities makes students active participants, provides challenging but realistic assignments, creates a conducive atmosphere, and provides rewards and guidance for success. Supporting factors include adequate facilities and learning methods that are easy to understand, while inhibiting factors include students' different educational backgrounds and lack of focus due to extracurricular activities.
