Abstract
Pedagogical competence is one of the important competencies for a teacher. A teacher is expected to be able to master pedagogical competencies that can equip them to become qualified educators. Decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. Number 183 of 2019 mandates that among the learning objectives of Islamic Cultural History in Madrasah Aliyah is to train students' critical thinking in understanding historical facts correctly. The ability to think critically in learning is actually what can lead students to understand the meaning of history. One of the learning methods that teachers must apply in this case is constructivism-based learning. Application of constructivism learning. The application of constructivism learning in learning Islamic Cultural History provides opportunities for students to be more active in developing critical thinking skills. Students' participation in the learning process is what can foster the desire to learn independently. The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, interviews, documentation. Data analysis in this study used data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that: 1) The pedagogical competence of teachers in constructivism-based learning has been running well in accordance with the steps of constructivism learning. 2) the application of constructivism learning in SKI class XI has not been maximized due to the lack of student participation in learning. 3) there is a significant increase in students' critical thinking skills through the application of constructivism learning model.
