Abstract
This study aims to: 1) analyze the implementation of aqidah akhlak learning in forming students' character based on the five pillars of UNESCO education at Madrasah Aliyah Mafaza Bantul; 2) identify the implications of aqidah akhlak learning on the formation of students' character based on the five pillars of UNESCO education at Madrasah Aliyah Mafaza Bantul. The type of research used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and documentation. Qualitative data analysis is carried out by means of data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and verification. This study produced two conclusions, namely 1) The formation of student character carried out by educators is to make a learning plan but does not include the approach, model, and learning method because it is flexible. In the implementation process, educators apply aqidah akhlak learning in forming student character based on the five pillars of UNESCO education. In the learning to know aspect, educators use the lecture method and whiteboard media. In the learning to do aspect, educators use the story telling method, simulation, and lecture. In the learning to live together aspect, educators use the lecture method. In the learning to be aspect, educators use assignment and presentation methods. In the learning to transform aspect, educators invite students to pray before and after learning and discipline them. In the evaluation, adding material that is not in the book, utilizing media, and available learning resources; 2) The implications of aqidah akhlak learning in forming student character are adjusted to the five pillars of UNESCO education. In the learning to know aspect, students understand the definition of cunning, greedy, cruel and discrimination. In the learning to do aspect, students are able to apply manners in visiting the sick. In the aspect of learning to live together, students are able to avoid cunning, greedy, cruel, and discriminatory behavior and know its negative impacts. In the aspect of learning to be, students are able to complete assignments and present them related to cunning, greedy, cruel, and discriminatory material. In the aspect of learning to transform, students are able to do good such as reading prayers before and after studying and being disciplined.
