Abstract
This research is very necessary to be carried out seeing the era of globalization is developing, especially science and technology (IPTEK), Islamic boarding schools are required to further improve their quality, especially in the field of skills, so that the existence of Islamic boarding schools remains solid. Racing to the problems of Islamic boarding schools that are only underestimated when looking at the output of their guru pengabdian who are lagging behind in terms of skills, one of which is that at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Putri Campus 3 there are many service guru pengabdian who are still experiencing difficulties in finding jobs after leaving the boarding school due to a lack of self-readiness and skills debriefing. Therefore, with the existence of life skills education to improve teachers' vocational skills, it plays a very important role in preparing potential and quality guru pengabdian before entering the community. Life skill education is not only specifically for the students but teachers are also equipped with special skills. This research aims to examine the implementation of life skill education to improve teachers' vocational skills at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Putri Campus 3, the problems of the life skill process to increase the role of teachers in the development of vocational skills and solutions in solving them and the impact of the implementation of life skill education in improving teachers' vocational skills at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Putri Campus 3. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative using a phenomenological approach. The research subjects selected by purposive sampling included deputy caregivers, 2 senior teachers, caregiving staff, and 5 service teachers. Data collection techniques were carried out using structured and unstructured interview methods, documentation and participatory observation. Test the validity of data using observation extension, increasing persistence, source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of the research are: first, the implementation of life skill education in improving the vocational skills of teachers at Pondok Modern Gontor has the disadvantages of its implementation, namely the activity program designed for teachers to form a quality and skilled generation in all fields with various activities, namely: assignments to the sector, preaching training, fashion designer workshops and entrepreneurship training. Second, the problems that occur during the implementation process are the lack of facilities and infrastructure, the lack of competent trainers, and the lack of interest of service teachers in participating in life skill activities. Third, implementing the life skills program has a positive impact on developing self-awareness, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, academic and vocational skills to improve the vocational skills of service teachers
