Abstract
The background of this study is based on the problem of teaching Islamic Religious Education which has abstract and practical material so that the use of media in Islamic Religious Education learning is very much needed. The use of learning media can bridge these problems and at the same time increase students' motivation to learn Islamic Religious Education. Several previous studies have revealed that poster media is effective for teaching Islamic Religious Education. But in the era of information technology advancement, digital media such as Youtube also offers solutions to this problem of teaching Islamic Religious Education and has the potential to increase students' motivation to learn Islamic Religious Education. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effectiveness of poster media and Youtube in increasing students' motivation to learn Islamic Religious Education in SMP N 1 Terisi. This research is a quantitative research. The type of research used is Quasi Experimental Design with the Pre Test Post Test Nonequivalent Control Group Design model. The subjects of this study were class VIII C as the control class and class VIII J as the experimental class. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive analysis, normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis test consisting of Independent T-test and N-Gain test. The results of the study showed that first, the results of the descriptive analysis of the pre-test and post-test questionnaire scores of the learning motivation of the control class using poster media had a relatively small difference, which was 9.758 with a pre-test questionnaire score of 65.333 and a post-test questionnaire score of 75.091. Second, the results of the descriptive analysis of the pre-test and post-test questionnaire scores of the learning motivation of the experimental class using Youtube media had a greater difference, which was 39.819 with a pre-test questionnaire score of 68.242 and a post-test questionnaire score of 108.061. Third, there was a difference in learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education subjects between the control class using poster media and the experimental class using Youtube media. This is evidenced by the results of the Independent T test which has a significance value of <0.05, which is <,001 so that H1 is accepted. The use of Youtube media in learning can increase students' learning motivation by a greater percentage than the use of poster media. This is proven by the results of the N-Gain test in the control class, only 14% were in the "Ineffective" category, while in the experimental class, 77% were in the "Effective" category.
