Abstract

Islamic boarding school education is still the main choice for some parents as a link between general education and religious education. The lack of character in children is one of the reasons parents choose Islamic boarding schools as educational institutions for their children. However, the emergence of several unfavorable characters in children demands a solution, one of which is by instilling character values through the implementation of education in Islamic boarding schools. This research aims to: (1) determine the implementation of Islamic boarding school education learning at Madrasah Mu'allimaat Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, (2) identify the character values that are pursued in learning at Islamic boarding schools, and (3) determine the impact of learning implementation on instilling character values female students. This research uses qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The data sources for this research consist of the Head of the Islamic Boarding School, Musyrifah, Ustadzah, Madrasah Santriwati, and Dormitory Teachers. Determination of sources was carried out using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection techniques use observation, structured interviews, and documentation. Testing the validity of qualitative data uses 4 criteria, namely through credibility (validity), transferability, dependability and confirmability (objectivity) tests. The data analysis technique uses steps which include data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and verification. The research results show: First, the implementation of learning in Islamic boarding schools includes various educational activities such as Qiro'atul Qur'an, Tahfidzul Qur'an, Tahsin Qur'an, Muhadatsah, Khot, Imla, Qiro'atul Qutub, Mufrodat, and Muhadharah, and programs Madrasah education, Second, the character values that are instilled include the values of worship, Honesty, Responsibility, Self-confidence, Love of Knowledge, Discipline, Caring, Healthy living, Obedience to rules and sanctions, Respect and obedience. which is instilled through daily, weekly, monthly and annual activities; Third, the impact of the implementation of learning on the instillation of female students' character values can be seen in the development of spiritual and moral character, the formation of ethics and discipline, and the improvement of soft skills. This positive impact is also reflected in the female students' academic and social achievements, including active involvement in national and international competitions and participation in social environments
