Abstract
Psychological well-being is a crucial aspect of students’ lives, especially for final-year students who face various academic pressures and transitions to adulthood. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of psychological well-being in final-year female students. The method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Subsequently, the data were analyzed by reducing, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. Source and method triangulation techniques were used to ensure data validity. This study shows that the depiction of psychological well-being in final-year female students at the State Islamic Institute of Parepare varies. First, self-acceptance and self-development are primary aspects, emphasizing the importance of understanding strengths and weaknesses and being active in activities that support self-development. Second, clarity in setting life goals and understanding individual responsibilities within groups, as well as commitment to academic success as a social responsibility within the family, play important roles. Third, communication and interaction within the campus environment and openness in interactions outside the campus help students build broader and supportive social networks. Fourth, appreciation and recognition of educational achievements enhance psychological well-being by acknowledging existing achievements and opportunities. Fifth, independence and financial stability are demonstrated through independence in daily activities and participation in online businesses, helping to build personal resilience and economic stability. Lastly, social concern through involvement in social activities and organizations enriches perspectives on social concern and self-assessment of potential. Psychological well-being is a complex condition not influenced by a single factor. These factors include both supportive and inhibiting factors. The five informants indicated that social support from family and friends, which is emotional, instructional, and practical, plays a significant role in their psychological well-being. This support not only provides a sense of acceptance and understanding but also offers moral encouragement and emotional support needed to overcome challenges and strengthen psychological well-being. Academic pressure in the form of final assignments and completion of studies as well as social pressure were mentioned as the most frequently expressed inhibiting factors by informants.
