Abstract
The aim of this research is to explore the motivation of MJS to explore the motivation of MJS in developing religious and cultural literacy. The purpose of this research is to explore the motivation of MJS in transforming into a public space and knowing the efforts that have been made by MJS in developing religious and cultural literacy, as well as knowing the impact of the transformation of MJS as a public space on the congregation and the community around the mosque. The theories used in this research are Henri Lefebvre's production of space theory. The method used in this research is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The material objects in this research are Takmir, Lecturers, and Congregation at MJS. The data collection techniques in this research are observation, interview, and documentation. Cresswell's model is used in this research for data analysis techniques. Data validity testing techniques include 1) credibility test with source and time triangulation and membercheck, 2) transferability test, 3) dependability test, and 4) certainty test. The research results concluded that: (1) Masjid Jendral Sudirman (MJS) Demangan Baru has transformed into an inclusive space, prioritizing culture, spirituality, and intellectuality. With a majority of student activists, MJS organizes literacy activities such as writing and publishing classes, and is open to all people regardless of background. (2) Masjid Jendral Sudirman (MJS) develops educational literacy through religious, cultural and social media literacy. With various recitation and study programs, as well as activeness on digital platforms, MJS seeks to prosper the mosque and reach the congregation effectively. (3) Masjid Jendral Sudirman (MJS) plays a role in developing religious and cultural literacy, focusing on social space. The transformation of MJS can be seen in three aspects: 1) Spatial Practices: performing worship functions while organizing literacy activities, 2) Design and Facilities: optimization of space for social activities, 3) Social Interaction: creating a living space through interaction between takmir and congregation that enriches the literacy experience.
