Abstract

Traffic Shaping is a technique in network management that is used to control the flow of data in a computer network. Traffic Shaping works by limiting certain data transfer speeds so that they comply with policies determined by the network service provider or network administrator. The goal is to optimize network performance, reduce congestion, and ensure efficient use of resources. The Hierarchical Token Bucket method was chosen to implement the objectives of Traffic Shaping. The HTB method was chosen because of its ability to allocate Bandwidth hierarchically and flexibly, allowing for fair distribution of Bandwidth according to the priorities of certain users or applications. This implementation also allows for more precise Bandwidth allocation according to the priority needs of each user and application, thus improving the overall user experience. The research results show that HTB implementation is able to improve the quality of network services by allocating Bandwidth more effectively. Applications with the highest priority are able to get higher Bandwidth compared to non-priority applications. Each application gets maximum Bandwidth according to the number of restrictions.
