Abstract

Arisan is a popular form of cooperation among the community. Many social gatherings have been held, especially among housewives, one of which is the cooking oil gathering in Kedungharjo Village, Mantingan District, Ngawi Regency. In practice, this cooking oil arisan has become a tradition ('urf) to help residents meet their needs during celebrations or other urgent needs. The deposit mechanism that does not have a routine schedule causes uncertainty in the period of completion of the arisan and the object of the deposit that is not uniform triggers the non-fulfillment of the principle of justice in muamalah. This type of research is field research using qualitative analysis that is descriptive-analytical, with an empirical approach. Data collection techniques use interviews, observations and documentation. In this case, the author conducted direct interviews with the manager and several members of the social gathering. The results of the study show that the practice of cooking oil arisan in Kedungharjo Village operates using a qard contract with the principle of mutual help and based on urgent needs. The uncertainty of the time for the completion of the arisan and the difference in the acquisition value contain elements of garar qalil. So, the practice of cooking oil arisan in Kedungharjo Village, Mantingan District, Ngawi Regency is allowed because the garar contained in this transaction is garar qalil, has applied the concept of justice from the perspective of Imam Al-Ghazali and based on the theory of sadd adz-dzari'ah is included in the category of mubah and useful muamalah.
