Abstract

Students who study and work have a heavier burden. Academic and work demands can affect both physical and mental health. Maslach et.al, (2001) describes burnout as a condition of emotional, physical and mental fatigue caused by prolonged stress at work. This study aims to find out the relationship between emotional regulation and burnout in students working in Yogyakarta. The research method used was a correlational research method with a quantitative approach. The total number of subjects in this study was 132 people with accidental sampling techniques. Measures used are the Maslach Burnout Inventory General Survey scale by Maslach, et.al (2016) and the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire scale Gross and John (2003). The analysis in this study used a double linear regression analysis test. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between emotional regulation and burnout in students working in Yogyakarta either simultaneously or partially (p > 0.05). The results of this study could be a study for further research to explore variables that may play a role in burnout, as well as to understand the dynamics between emotional regulation and burnout.
