Abstract

A thesis is one of the prerequisites for students to obtain a bachelor's degree. It is known that there are still many students who postpone their thesis work until their final year of study. Procrastination carried out in the academic sphere is also called academic procrastination. If it drags on, academic procrastination in students can cause stress, anxiety and health problems. This research aims to determine the relationship between self-esteem and perfectionism and academic procrastination in UIN Sunan Kalijaga students who are working on their thesis. This research uses quantitative correlational research methods using three research scales, namely the academic procrastination scale, self-esteem scale, and perfectionism scale. The sample in this research were UIN Sunan Kalijaga students from the 2019, 2018 and 2017 classes who were working on their thesis. The sample in this research was 327 UIN Sunan Kalijaga students from 8 faculties, classes of 2019, 2018 and 2017 who were working on their thesis. Quota sampling technique was used for sampling. Data analysis in this study used multiple linear regression using SPSS version 27 software. The research results showed that there was a relationship between self-esteem and perfectionism and academic procrastination in UIN Sunan Kalijaga students who were working on their thesis. Furthermore, the partial test results show that there is a significant negative relationship between self-esteem and academic procrastination. Then the second independent variable, namely perfectionism, shows that there is a significant positive relationship between perfectionism and academic procrastination
