Abstract

Good economic conditions and fulfillment of family needs are the key to family welfare, besides that, family economic stability is important so that there are no financial problems so as to create a harmonious family. Even so, the fact is that families are not always in a good and stable economic situation, as is the case with farm labor families in Widodaren Village who earn a living as farm laborers with mediocre and uncertain work results. Departing from this reality, this research was conducted to find out the role of women in family financial management and how family financial management is carried out by farm labor families in Widodaren Village. The type of research in this thesis is field research. The collection method used in this research is by conducting interviews directly with the research subject. In analyzing the research data, the authors used Structuration Theory which is Anthony Giddens' thought. In the results of this study, it is known that women have a big role in controlling family financial management. The socio-cultural influence of the community in Widodaren Village which is still traditional is a factor in the large role of women in family financial management. In addition, the role of women in family financial management can be seen from the individual's decision to work based on the fulfillment of the family economy. The way of managing family finances carried out by women farm laborers is by being flexible, without recording, and financial evaluation.
