Abstract

Marriage is an emotional bond between two individuals that involves a commitment to live together and share responsibilities in daily life. Marriage is considered ideal and satisfying when two couples can enjoy togetherness. However, many couples are now choosing to have long distance relationships due to various factors, such as work and economic conditions. For wives whose husbands have to work far away, this condition can cause feelings of loneliness and overthinking, which can affect the quality of satisfaction in the relationship. To maintain a long distance relationship, couples need to maintain satisfaction in the relationship. One of the things that plays a role in determining relationship satisfaction is attachment. Adult attachment style is a pattern of emotional relationships that form in childhood and influence interpersonal interactions in adulthood, including in marriage. This research aims to provide an overview of the adult attachment style of wives who are in long distance marriage. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a phenomenological approach, involving three informants selected using purposive sampling technique. The criteria for informants are women aged 20-30 years who have been in a long distance marriage for a minimum of six months and a maximum of five years. The data in this research were collected through interview, observation, and documentation techniques. The data was then analyzed using reduction techniques, data presentation, and drawing conclusions/verification. The results of this study indicate that in a long distance marriage, effective communication and trust are the main factors in maintaining the relationship. Emotional support from couples also play an important role in maintaining harmony in relationships, especially in the context of long distance marriage.
