Abstract

The development of physics modules based on thiwul local potential is expected to be an alternative learning resource in meeting student needs. This research aims to: (1) describe the characteristics of the Physics Module Gemar Thiwul to improve students' critical thinking skills. (2) determine the quality of the Physics Module Gemar Thiwul to improve students' critical thinking skills. (3) determine students' responses to the Physics Module to improve students' critical thinking skills. (4) to determine the effectiveness of the Physics Module to improve students' critical thinking skills. This research is a Research and Development study with the 4D development procedure but limited to the development stage with a broad trial to determine the effectiveness of the module to improve critical thinking skills. The product feasibility assessment used a Likert scale with 5 intervals and student responses to the product used a Guttman scale. To determine the effectiveness of the product using N-Gain based on pretest and posttest results. The instruments used include instrument validation sheets, product validation sheets, teacher practitioner assessment sheets, student response sheets, and critical thinking skills questions. The results of this study are Physics Module Gemar Thiwul which contains circular motion material combined with thiwul local potential. The results of the product feasibility assessment based on product assessment by experts obtained very feasible criteria with a score of 83% and based on teacher assessment obtained feasible criteria with a score of 80%. Meanwhile, students' responses to the use of the module showed an Agree criteria with an average score of 0.9 in the limited trial and 0.8 in the broad trial. The Gemar Thiwul Physics Module is effective for improving students' critical thinking skills with an N-Gain value of 0.34 in the medium category and 76% of students achieved critical thinking skills in the sufficient category so that it can be said that the module is effective.
