Abstract

In the context of women's empowerment, particularly within families, the role of media has become increasingly important, especially in disseminating ideas about gender equality. This study examines the influence of mediatization in the form of dakwah (Islamic preaching) conducted by K.H. Faqihuddin Abdul Kodir on the empowerment of women in the family. The background of this research stems from the reality of gender injustice that still occurs in many families, where women are often placed in subordinate positions compared to men. Through social media, K.H. Faqihuddin Abdul Kodir delivers his preaching on the principles of reciprocity and gender equality, particularly in the roles of husbands and wives in household life. This preaching aims to address gender bias, which is often supported by patriarchal culture. This research is a field study with a descriptive-exploratory approach, involving descriptions and explanations of K.H. Faqihuddin Abdul Kodir's role in mediatizing his dakwah movement on women's empowerment, particularly in the context of family empowerment. Primary data for this research was obtained through interviews and questionnaires directed at relevant sources, while secondary data was gathered from articles, journals, and other sources explaining mediatization and women's empowerment within families. The results of the research indicate that K.H. Faqihuddin Abdul Kodir chose social media as a means of dakwah due to its ability to reach a wider audience and create an interactive space for dialogue. The mediatization of dakwah through platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and websites like mubadalah.id has successfully increased gender knowledge and awareness among women. Additionally, this dakwah has brought significant changes in gender roles within household life, with women becoming more active in decision-making. In conclusion, the mediatization of dakwah conducted by K.H. Faqihuddin Abdul Kodir significantly contributes to women's empowerment, particularly in improving perceptions and practices of gender roles within the family and promoting broader advocacy for gender equality. gender roles within the family and promoting broader advocacy for gender equality
