Abstract

Interfaith communication in the city of Ambon is an important issue. The complexly heterogeneous society of Ambon has a risk of conflict among different groups. These differences should be viewed as a change that can foster tolerance. However, despite the various issues that arise from the diversity in the city of Ambon, it is currently running harmoniously, especially in the village of Wayame, where this village always upholds tolerance among religious communities. Wayame is the only village in the city of Ambon that has never experienced social and religious conflicts. In this study, the researcher will focus on the village of Wayame regarding how religious leaders communicate to maintain harmony among religious communities in the village of Wayame, Ambon city. This research uses qualitative research with a field research type that is descriptive in nature, where this research will analyze the research results that can produce a flexible analysis of the communication of religious leaders in maintaining harmony among religious communities in Wayame village, Ambon city. The results of this study indicate that the communication used by religious leaders in Wayame village, Ambon city, is predominantly interpersonal communication, followed by group communication, then public communication, and rarely media communication. In these forms, there is a process of communication. Those forms of communication are what make Wayame village always harmonious, respectful, and possess a high sense of tolerance
