Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the establishment of a tourist village on the local economy in Kelawi Village, with a focus on the tourist destinations of Minang Rua Beach and Pematang Sunrise Hill. Using a qualitative descriptive method, this research collected data through interviews to identify the changes that have occurred. The findings indicate that most residents are aware that Minang Rua Beach was officially designated as a tourist village this 2019, and they recognize the positive impact it has generated. Local businesses around these tourist destinations have experienced significant changes, particularly in terms of increased income. Additionally, the presence of the tourist village has played a crucial role in creating new job opportunities, helping to reduce unemployment, especially in the post-pandemic period. Although the pandemic had a negative impact on the economy, local businesses in Kelawi Beach have shown signs of recovery and better development in line with the growth of tourism. Community optimism regarding the potential for business growth has increased with the development of the tourist village. Furthermore, this study found that there is good cooperation between local businesses, tourism destination managers, and the village government, all working together to maximize the economic potential of the tourism sector. Overall, the development of the tourist village in Kelawi Village has proven to have a tangible and positive impact on the local economy, through increased income, job creation, and effective cooperation among the involved parties.
