Abstract

In the context of fiscal decentralization, regional governments are expected to be able to manage revenues independently to finance development and public services. The existence of dependence on transfer funds from the center, high levels of poverty, and optimizing the use of special autonomy funds are the main concerns in the analysis of fiscal independence. This research analyzes the influence of regional tax revenues, balancing funds, special autonomy funds, and poverty levels on regional financial independence in Aceh Province during the 2018-2022 period. The research results show that regional tax revenues, special autonomy funds and poverty do not have a significant influence on regional financial independence. On the other hand, only balancing funds have a significant negative influence on regional financial independence. This shows that dependence on balancing funds from the central government and the high level of poverty in Aceh hinder efforts to increase financial independence. Therefore, efforts are needed to increase local taxes and reduce dependence on balancing funds through better financial management strategies and effective poverty alleviation programs.
