Abstract

The early adult chapter is considered to be the most productive chapter and has high emotional tension, where the ability to regulate emotions is needed in this case, poor emotion regulation will also have a bad impact on individuals and their environment, self-compassion is one of the factors that influence emotion regulation, the good individual in giving compassion to himself will be considered to affect how the individual regulates his emotions. The method used is correlational quantitative research with a total of 303 subjects consisting of 151 men and 152 women of early adult age in Yogyakarta City. The sampling method was non-probability sample. The measuring instruments used are the emotion regulation scale and the self-compassion scale, which were then analyzed with Pearson's product-moment correlation test. The results showed a positive significant relationship between self-compassion and emotional regulation, with a significance of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The effective contribution of self-compassion to emotion regulation is 65%. This result implies that emotion regulation can be improved with good self-compassion.
