Abstract

As the digital technology develops, Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam=PAI) for Senior High Students has transformed and technology has given PAI teachers a chance to create a more interactive. Although digital technology has been introduced to PAI in Gunungkidul to maximize the students’ motivation and the access flexibility, the under-use of technology utilization and the teachers’ unequal skill remain a problem. This study aimed to: 1) analyze digital technology utilization for PAI learning, 2) analyze the digital competence of PAI teachers, 3) analyze the impact of digital technology on the objective accomplishment of PAI, and 4) formulate a model of digital technology integration for PAI. Using a qualitative approach with case study method, this research involved thirty (30) PAI teachers from 19 Senior High Schools of Gunungkidul regency. Obtained through observation, interview, and documentation, the data were analyzed using triangulation for data validity assurance. The four steps to analysis process were: collecting data, condensing data, displaying data, and drawing and verifying conclusion. Data analysis begins from grouping them into its relevant objective. The data was condensed and put them into groups of research questions and objectives; then it was presented for easy identification in the form of table and interview results. The conclusions were interpreted using available theory for their logic and accuracy. The results show as follows. First, digital technology for PAI learning was used in Learning Management System (LMS), digital presentation media, quiz and evaluation applications, online communication platform, automatic assessment, gamification, education podcast and video, online collaboration application, and smart classroom devices. Modification of the technology was made to suit current PAI curriculum (i.e. Kurikulum Merdeka and K13). Second, PAI teachers of High Schools in Gunungkidul have comprehended 5 competences in digital utilization, namely information, communication, education content creation, security, education problem solving. Their competences were put in the basic and professional skill map despite the fact that a few of them have not been transformed at best. Third, the presence of technology in learning brought some changes in terms of accessibility, interactive learning, personalization of learning, skill development of 21st century, and education management and evaluation efficiency. Digital technology gave positive impacts on learning. For low-motivation students, the teachers managed to adjust the technology based on the curriculum and each school condition. Fourth, the study recommended a combination between TPACK and SAMSR the most optimum model of digital technology when. PBL element was included. According to the observation, the model of integration applied in class was effective and in line with the need for PAI learning. The study contributes a frame of digital technology adjustment for Gunungkidul high school teachers of PAI which enables them to upgrade the learning quality through interactive strategy, inclusive, and responsive. This way, it is expected that students will involve actively, adjust themselves to digital technology for learning, understand the religious values deeply, and ready to face the challenge in the digital era.
