Abstract
Initial reading and writing learning will usually take place in grades 1 to 3 of elementary school or lower grades. Piaget stated that children of this age are very suitable for learning through direct experience. Playing can give children the opportunity to assimilate reality in a fun way. The objectives of this research are: (1) developing monopoly game media based on the syllabic method; (2) describe the feasibility of the syllabic method-based monopoly game media in improving initial reading and writing skills; (3) explain the influence of the monopoly game media based on the syllabic method in improving initial reading and writing skills. This research and development adapts the ADDIE development model which consists of 5 steps, namely analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The product is then tested for suitability by experts. A field trial design was carried out with a control class and an experimental class as test subjects in one of the schools in Bima-West Nusa Tenggara. Data collection uses questionnaire instruments and tests using descriptive analysis techniques. The data was then subjected to an independent samples t-test to test its effectiveness and an n-gai test to test its effective contribution. The research results show that; (1) the product produced is in the form of a monopoly board and various accessories containing learning materials based on the syllabic method. The product was developed with the help of the canva-pro application and went through validation stages and field trials; (2) The feasibility test was based on validation from experts, so the Word Monopoly game media obtained results with an average of 81.6 and was confirmed by the teacher's assessment, namely the product obtained a score of 86.11. So it gets a very good category; (3) The results of the independent samples t-test as a testing tool for control and experimental class data obtained a significance value of <0.05, meaning that there was a significant difference between the classes that received treatment and those that did not receive treatment. Meanwhile, in the N-gain test, a percentage value was obtained of 70.14 for reading ability and 64.67 for writing ability, meaning that the media was categorized as quite effective in improving initial reading and writing abilities.
