Abstract

This research aims to develop an Indonesian language textbook based on Madurese local wisdom for grade 5 Islamic Elementary School (MI) students. The specific objectives include: (1) describing the textbook development process, (2) analyzing the textbook's feasibility, (3) testing the textbook's effectiveness in improving cultural value understanding, and (4) testing the textbook's effectiveness in enhancing student learning motivation. The research employed Research and Development (R&D) methodology with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects consisted of 90 grade 5 MI students from three schools in Jember Regency. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests. Data analysis used both qualitative and quantitative methods, including paired t-tests to measure the textbook's effectiveness. The results showed that: (1) The textbook development process through ADDIE stages successfully produced a product that meets students' needs and characteristics; (2) The textbook was rated highly feasible with an average score of 72.89% based on evaluation by three experts; (3) The use of the textbook was effective in improving students' cultural value understanding, with a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05); (4) The textbook effectively increased student learning motivation, with a significance value of 0.002 (p < 0.05). It can be concluded that the developed Indonesian language textbook based on Madurese local wisdom proved to be feasible and effective in enhancing cultural value understanding and learning motivation of grade V MI students. This research contributes to the development of contextual language learning models and supports the preservation of local wisdom.
