Abstract
This research concerns on human resource management in preservation practices, including aspects of planning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating, reporting, budgeting as well as challenges and solutions in implementing human resource management for library collection preservation in the Library. The theories used are Luther Gullick's management theory and preservation theory. This research aims to find out how human resource management in the practice of collection preservation and the obstacles and solutions that occur in the preservation practice in the library of Ciputra University Surabaya. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Sampling for informants used purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Next, test the validity of the data using credibility, transferability, dependability and confirmability tests. The research results show that (1) Human resource management in the practice of collection preservation at the ciputra university library Surabaya shows the implementation of structured procedures, including planning preservation activities with preventive and curative measures, managing personnel through recruitment and training of interns, as well as leadership that focuses on digitalization and print collection management. Coordination and reporting are carried out routinely, but there is a need to increase the frequency of meetings and integration of digital information systems to improve efficiency and accuracy. Annual budgeting is allocated in kind, and it is recommended to increase emergency funds to increase flexibility in response to urgent needs. (2) Obstacles faced in human resource management for library collection preservation practices include a lack of human resources, inadequate tools, and dependence on a single librarian, which hinders the effectiveness of organization and training. The solutions implemented include recruiting interns from other universities, improving training, and using technology for efficiency. In direction, leadership support is needed as well as through mentoring programs and increased communication. Additionally, improving internal and external coordination and improving reporting systems are proposed to improve preservation practices.
