Abstract

This study examines the development of children's literacy in Komunitas Read Aloud Jogja (RAJo) using Matthews seven basic community engagement values and their impacts based on a logic model scheme that is deepened with Bloom's taxonomy. The purpose of this study was to determine the development of children's literacy through the Komunitas RAJo. The qualitative descriptive method was chosen for this study. Informants were selected using the snowball technique. Data were collected from interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. Data validity testing used source triangulation and technique triangulation as well as credibility testing through member check. The results of the study revealed (1) the development of children's literacy through the Komunitas RAJo based on Matthews community engagement is divided into 7 basic values, namely: a) the community prepares planning through discussion, SWOT analysis, forming committees, and teamwork, b) inclusivity is seen in the internal diverse background and the community is open to those who want to get involved, c) collaboration is established with libraries and publishers, d) openness and lessons are seen in the democratic and egalitarian spirit, e) transparency and trust are built through the provision of reports and documentation, f) the impact and actions produced are parents and teachers getting to know read aloud, g) ongoing involvement and participatory culture are built through other literacy communities who also learn from the Komunitas RAJo and re-implement it in their communities. Furthermore, (2) the impact based on the logic model, namely 1) input: human resources, discussion, teamwork, commitment, and funds. 2) activities: read aloud, bookish play, and sharing. 3) outputs: more enthusiastic about reading aloud, practicing read aloud properly, and learning public speaking. 4) outcomes: the right read aloud method, knowledge and new experiences. 5) impact: children love reading, parents learn how to communicate well and become better people. Bloom's Taxonomy in the cognitive aspect: children love to learn, understand problems, problem-solving skills, and enrich children's vocabulary. Affective aspect: children are able to control their emotions, prefer books than gadgets, and train empathy. While the psychomotor aspect: changing children's habits and children's more creative.
