Abstract

This study examines the meaning of Cultural Literacy based on Local Wisdom in the Guel Dance in Central Aceh. The purpose of this study is to determine, describe and analyze the meanings of Cultural Literacy based on Local Wisdom in the Guel Dance in Central Aceh. In order to determine cultural literacy based on local wisdom in the Guel dance in Central Aceh, this study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The selection of informants uses purposive sampling techniques. The data sources used are secondary data and primary data. Data collection techniques use observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Data validity techniques in this study are divided into four, namely, credibility, dependability, and confirmation tests. Then the data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman model, namely, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study found that the Guel Dance is one of the local wisdoms from the Central Aceh region which has meanings from each movement consisting of four main movements, namely the munatap movement, redep / dep, ketibung, and jackfruit chopping. Then, the meaning of the costume in the guel dance is often called the Gayo kerawang worn when dancing, there is also a meaning in its motif, which consists of five basic motifs, namely emun pergi, puter tali, tapak seleman, pucuk rebung, and tali peger. The guel dance as a local wisdom of Central Aceh also has a moral message, advice, or customary prohibitions that are in accordance with the beliefs and norms of the Gayo community. The meaning or message contained in the guel dance conveys an important meaning or message in the application of everyday life. In addition to the meaning or message contained in it, the guel dance is also one of the symbols of the Gayo community culture that is preserved to this day. However, there is a lack of participation from the government in educating the public regarding local wisdom, especially in the guel dance.
