Abstract

Da'wah is an activity in conveying knowledge about religious teachings contained in the Qur'an and Sunnah to the wider community. In reality, da'wah is not only limited to increasing understanding and awareness of religion, but can be practiced in everyday life so that the world and the hereafter are in harmony. The ever-evolving era changes the current way of da'wah by following the sophistication of technology as a medium of da'wah or what is called digitalization of da'wah. In addition, along with the development of various contemporary sciences, da'wah is not only understood in general but also needs to be studied in the discourse of hadith science, namely the understanding of hadith, including the hadith of the virtue of da'wah narrated by Muslim number 1,893. This study aims to answer two formulations of the problem, first, how is the meaning and understanding of the hadiths about da'wah according to Yusuf Qardhawi's theory? Second, how is the contextualization of the hadith about da'wah through the media? This research is a qualitative research based on library research from several literatures in the form of books, articles, and other literature related to this research. The process of understanding the hadith is carried out by applying the criteria offered by Yusuf Qardhawi. The criteria are: 1) Understanding the Hadith According to the Instructions of the Qur'an, 2) Collecting hadiths with the same theme, 3) Combining or mentarjih hadiths that conflict, 4) Considering the background of the emergence of the hadith and its purpose (Asbāb al-wurūd, 5) Distinguishing changing means and fixed means, 6) Distinguishing between haqiqi and majazi expressions, 7) Distinguishing between ghaib and real, 8) Ensuring the meaning of words in the hadith. However, in this study, only five criteria will be used. The results of this study are that the hadith narrated by Muslim number 1,893 when viewed from the aspects of its sanad and matan, has authentic quality and can be used as evidence. The virtue of da'wah explained in the hadith narrated by Muslim number 1,893 and the verses of the Qur'an, such as QS. An-Nahl verse 125, QS. Al-Maidah verse 2, QS. As-Saff verse 3, QS. Al-Fushilat verse 33, QS. Yusuf verse 108, and other hadiths, show that da'wah is a noble activity that invites to goodness and prevents evil (amar ma'ruf nahi munkar). The method of da'wah during the time of the Prophet was carried out through traditional approaches such as sermons, scientific assemblies, and correspondence, but along with the development of technology, da'wah now uses more innovative digital media, such as social media, films, and other creative content. Therefore, da'i are expected to be able to utilize various media to reach a wider audience. Nowadays, da'i have modified their da'wah media with audio visuals and through social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Spotify, and so on. So, it can be understood that in delivering da'wah today it is more creative and innovative and access is easier.
