Abstract
This research discusses the internalization of religious values and norms in the development of halal tourism in Senggigi Village, Batu Layar District, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. With the aim of knowing the process of internalizing religious values and knowing what are the challenges and opportunities in the development of halal tourism in Senggigi Village. To obtain data, this study uses a qualitative method of field research. With primary data in the form of interview results and observations found in the field. Meanwhile, the secondary data is in the form of documents, notes and writings related to the study of this writing. Furthermore, the theory used is the theory of internalization and commercialization. This research shows that the development of halal tourism in Senggigi Village not only affects the economic sector, but also on the social dynamics in the local community. The prioritization of religious values, especially Islamic values, in the development of halal tourism has a significant impact on the pattern of social interaction between communities in Senggigi. Using the theory of internalization, this study finds that the process of internalizing religious values in halal tourism in Senggigi takes place through a dialectical relationship between tourists, local communities, and tourism industry players. This process resulted in the integration of Islamic religious principles into the tourism products and services offered, thus creating new opportunities in the economic sector. However, on the other hand, the commercialization of halal tourism also brings challenges, such as social polarization and local cultural resistance to the changes brought by halal tourism. The results of the study show that although halal tourism provides great economic opportunities, challenges in the form of interreligious tensions and shifts in local cultural values still need to be considered. Therefore, inclusive, diversity-based, and sensitive to local values are needed to ensure the sustainable development of halal tourism and provide benefits for all Senggigi people.
