Abstract
The existence of the Arabic language is growing in the world. Language development arises due to the birth of modern vocabulary in several fields, so that languages between countries experience absorption. This event is the result of language contact that is rampant in the current digital era. This research aims to explain and examine the factors and rules of the process of forming absorbing words both in the form of loanwords, loanblends, and loanshift. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach and the data of this research is taken from the web page www.sayidaty.net in 2020-2023 which focuses on one of the mat}bakh culinary rubrics. The theory of grouping the process of absorbing word formation uses the theory originated by Einar Haugen, then analyzes the data on sound changes that occur in loanwords based on the International Phonetic Alphabet. The results of this study show that the process of loanwords from English words into Arabic is adjusted to the phonotactics of Arabic which undergoes a complete change of words with phonetic changes. In the middle vowels, the tendency of change is more towards front vowels than back vowels. Modification of vowel phonemes from English absorption words into Arabic tends to follow the phoneme of origin, both in terms of the high-low position of the tongue and the influence of consonant phonemes before and after the vowel. The changes occur due to adjustment to the previous vowel with some articulation and adjustment to the pronunciation of vowels in Arabic. The process of loanblends from English absorption words into Arabic found undergoes changes in terms of phonemes and morphemes adapted to Arabic patterns. Changes in loanblends can be said to be hybrids, in the form of mixtures found in phrases. When the English word is absorbed into Arabic, one of the words of the phrase undergoes a semantic translation form and the other undergoes a complete translation form with Arabic phoneme adjustment. Furthermore, the last absorbed word process is loan shift which is found in two categories of forms, namely semantic loan which is a loan of meaning with the finding that the words that have been absorbed from English into Arabic experience meaning translation which is taking the meaning of the absorbed word, and loan translation literal translation loan which is with data findings in the form of translating words from English into Arabic literally and tends to be translated recipes in the form of the type of naming the recipe.
