Abstract

This study analyzes the involvement of the Regent of Bantul as a campaigner and chairman of the Regional Winning Team (TPD) for candidate pair 01 in the 2024 Presidential Election. The involvement of the Regent of Bantul has raised pros and cons in various circles of society because the decision to become a campaigner is considered unusual. This study aims to analyze the involvement of the Regent of Bantul as a campaigner, public opinion about the order and find out the review of Islamic political ethics. The research used a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. The research data was collected through in-depth interviews with the Regent of Bantul and four public figures from various circles and professions. The results showed; first, public opinion about the Regent of Bantul as a campaigner showed his personal support for candidate 01, which led to controversy during the campaign period and the 2024 election. There are three news articles that contain the Regent of Bantul as a campaigner and various content on social media accounts that show the pros and cons of the community. Second, based on the theory of Islamic political ethics, there are five points found; first, justice, the Regent of Bantul sided with candidate pair number one and participated in leading the candidate pair's campaign so that it did not fulfill the indicators of justice. Second, tolerance, the Regent of Bantul communicated in the campaign wisely by not criticizing or bullying other candidates outside the Anies Muhaimin candidate pair. Third, trustworthy, the Regent of Bantul knows Anies Muhaimin directly so that he conveys actual information without the need for research. Fourth, democratic, the Regent of Bantul conducts campaigns as part of democracy and gets pro and con reactions from various circles of society. Fifth, equality for all mankind, the Regent of Bantul conducted a campaign for people who have the same regional background as him, namely the people of Bantul, Yogyakarta. Furthermore, recommendations for future researchers to conduct research on other regional heads who also conduct campaigns at the level of Regent, Mayor, Governor, President and other government officials.
