Abstract

This study aims to develop a science enrichment book based on the local potential of Geblek production in Kulon Progo as a learning resource in science education for junior high school students. The enrichment book is designed to support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum by utilizing digital technology and local potential to enhance students' learning interest and scientific literacy. The objectives of this research include developing a science enrichment book based on the local potential of Geblek production, evaluating the quality of the enrichment book, and analyzing students' responses to the developed book. This study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) model, which is limited to the development phase. The science enrichment book is formatted in PDF and uploaded to a flipbook platform, making it easily accessible via smartphones and computers. The product consists of three main sections: an introduction, which includes the cover, preface, and table of contents; the main content, which consists of the history of Geblek, its production process, science concepts related to Geblek production, and material explanations; and the conclusion, which includes references, a glossary, and author information. The research findings indicate that the science enrichment book is of high quality, as assessed by experts. The material expert rated it 3.52, the media expert rated it 3.75, and the science teacher rated it 3.85. Additionally, students' responses to the book were highly positive, with an average score of 0.92, indicating that the product effectively supports students in understanding science concepts.
